Armenian ombudsman initiates anti-domestic violence plan
Ombudsman Arman Tatoyan has initiated a comprehensive project aimed to combat domestic violence in Armenia.
The proposed plan is intended to involve all the interested sides in the implementation of the respective activities.
An advisor of the Council of Europe's Gender Equality Commission is now in Armenia as part of the initiative towards elaborating and implementing the project, reports the Ombudsman’s press service.
Meetings, held with Mr Tatoyan and members of his staff earlier today, addressed future trends of cooperation. The European official is scheduled meet also with representatives of the Police, the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, and NGOs.
The project, to be implemented in collaboration with the Council of Europe, will focus particularly on studying the correspondence between the Istanbul Convention on Preventing and Combating Violence against Women and Domestic Violence, and the domestic legislation.
