Haykakan Zhamanak: Armenian health minister to be appointed WHO deputy chief
The paper says it has learned from sources that Minister of Health Armenian Muradyan is going quit his post in the near future to be appointed a deputy president at the World Health Organization.
Izmirlian Medical Center’s director, Armen Charclyan, is reportedly expected to replace him. The paper says that sources at the Ministry of Health have denied the report, guessing at the same time its “possible grounds”. The paper claims that Muradyan was offered the post by the policy affairs director of the WHO Regional Office for Europe (who was in Armenia in February to attend an international forum). The minister was reportedly told that he would be inaugurated into office at the WHO 69th session in Geneva. But what the sources at the Ministry of Health said was Muradyan has been invited to the event in the status of Armenia’s minister of healthcare, says the paper.
