SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — The Mormon church is holding its twice-a-year conference this weekend amid a tumultuous U.S. political climate and without the participation of its ailing 90-year-old president. Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Steve Concialdi says the 4-square-mile (10.6-square-kilometer) wildfire near Corona is 75 percent contained Thursday. LONG BEACH, Miss. (AP) — A former Mississippi police officer whose daughter died in a hot car has been indicted on a second-degree-murder charge. News outlets report former Long Beach officer Cassie Barker was served with the indictment Thursday. Second-degree murder is punishable by 20 to 40 years in prison. Investigators said Barker left 3-year-old Cheyenne Hyer unattended in a patrol car for more than four hours while she was in another officer's home. TOWN OF EMPIRE, Wis. (AP) — The Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office is investigating the deaths of two people at a residence in the Town of Empire. Authorities say dispatchers received a 911 call from a home health care worker shortly before 8 a.m. Friday who said she found her client dead inside the home. Sheriff's officials say emergency responders found a second individual deceased in the home. Detectives are working with the Medical Examiner's Office to process the scene. TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) — The Kansas Board of Regents says enrollment at public universities fell less than 1 percent this fall. Enrollment figures released Friday show enrollment increased more than 3 percent at Fort Hays State University and Wichita State University. The University of Kansas reported a 1.1 percent increase in fall enrollment compared with last fall. Kansas State University reported the largest enrollment drop, of 4.1 percent. CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (AP) — A Long Island teacher's assistant accused of luring a girl into his home and having sex with her has pleaded not guilty to rape and child endangerment charges. Prosecutors say 27-year-old Marcus Johnson of Bay Shore High School raped the girl when she was 14 and 15. The school district referred the case to Suffolk County police. It says the safety of students is its "paramount concern." Johnson's attorney declined to comment outside court.

That raises the total number of civilians assessed to have been unintentionally killed by the coalition since August 2014 to 735. MARION, Kan. (AP) — A Kansas high school student who fought to keep his rainbow-painted parking spot found it vandalized this week. The Wichita Eagle reports that Marion High School senior Logan Waner decorated his parking spot with an LGBT pride design. It was covered in black paint or tar Thursday.
