LAS VEGAS (AP) — A man has been arrested for reckless driving following a rollover crash near Lake Mead that left a teenage boy from Las Vegas dead. Officials say the man was driving erratically at excessive speeds before losing control of the pickup truck along a dirt road.

(AP) — The city of Chattanooga is planning to install a memorial to the five service members killed in a 2015 shooting at a military installation. City officials on Friday issued a call to artists across the country, kicking off a process that will lead to the installation of a memorial near the Naval Operations Support Center where the shootings occurred. White is a member of the July 16 memorial steering committee launched by Mayor Andy Berke, which aims to raise $750,000 for the project through grants and donations.

Len Butler, chairman of the Lighthouse Advisory Board, says starting next month work is scheduled to start on removing the brick from under the lantern deck and scraping rust off the iron underside. Work will also be done to prevent the buildup of moisture that has caused structural concerns.

Seventeen-year-old Arnav Uppalapati was arrested Thursday night and charged with murder in the 2015 death of his mother, according to a Town of Cary news release . Authorities say Arnav Uppalapati has been charged as an adult, which is customary for crime suspects age 16 and over in North Carolina. Wake County District Attorney Lorrin Freeman told the newspaper that the son has been a person of interest throughout the investigation, and that there didn't appear to be signs of forced entry into the family's home. (AP) — A 32-year-old gang leader has admitted he took part in four murders as the head of what federal prosecutors say was a ruthless drug trafficking ring in New Haven. U.S. Attorney Deirdre Daly says Jeffrey Benton also pleaded guilty to federal racketeering, drug trafficking and money laundering charges during his appearance in New Haven federal court Friday.

(AP) — Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer has asked the FBI to investigate the alleged sexual abuse of children in a police youth outreach program. The Courier-Journal reports (http://cjky.it/2mVua8Q ) a lawsuit filed on behalf of a participant in the Youth Explorer program charges that his alleged rape by Officers Kenneth Betts and Brandon Wood was "concealed" by department officials.

OGDEN, Utah (AP) — Two Ogden police officers who were connected to a fatal shooting in February have been cleared of any wrongdoing. In body camera videos also released Friday, Sambrano can be seen running from police inside a parking structure.

SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) — A New Mexico state budget plan from lawmakers that would shore up spending on public schools and state agencies by raising taxes and fees was resoundingly rejected on Saturday by New Mexico Gov. BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — An appeals court on Saturday refused a request from two American Indian tribes for an "emergency" order that would prevent oil from flowing through Dakota Access pipeline. The Standing Rock and Cheyenne River Sioux tribes have challenged an earlier ruling by U.S. District Judge James Boasberg not to stop final construction of the pipeline, and they wanted the appeals court to halt any oil flow until that's resolved.
