WASHINGTON (AP) — The United States on Monday stepped up efforts to stop the Islamic State's trade in looted antiquities as President Barack Obama signed into law new import restrictions on Syrian cultural artifacts. The restrictions remain in effect as long as Syria's five-year civil war persists and until the U.S. can reach an agreement with Syria on protecting cultural property. The U.S. has been struggling to implement a truce in the Arab country that would end fighting between the government and more moderate rebel groups.

(AP) — Wildlife officials say a Florida man was knocked unconscious by a sturgeon that leapt into his boat on the Suwannee River during a fishing tournament. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said in a news release that 62-year-old Ronald Dick and his son were traveling about 30 mph when the 4- to 5-foot fish jumped into the boat Saturday afternoon.

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — The New York Senate Elections Committee has briefly considered legislation to close a campaign finance loophole for limited liability companies and its Republican members have voted to send it to another committee.

The conflict pits the Yemeni government, backed by the coalition, against Shiite rebels allied with forces loyal to the country's former president. The U.S. military is also helping Yemeni, Emirati and other Arab coalition forces in their fight against al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula, the group's affiliate in Yemen.

ANAMOSA, Iowa (AP) — Anamosa residents are being asked to drink bottled water after city officials said a chemical delivery to the eastern Iowa city's water system may have been mislabeled. City Administrator Alan Johnson said Monday that the unknown chemical that entered Anamosa's water supply may have been vegetable oil or laundry soap, but it won't be known until further testing is complete. The city is flushing the water distribution system and has contacted hospitals, schools, and restaurants advising them to use bottled water.
