Suspected DUI driver plows into vehicle carrying state Controller Betty Yee
California State Controller Betty Yee and her husband were recovering at home on Saturday after a driver suspected of being under the influence of marijuana plowed into their car a day earlier in the Posey Tube between Oakland and Alameda, officials said.
Yee, her husband Steven Jacobs and the car’s driver were treated at a hospital emergency room for various injuries ranging from whiplash to severe bruising.
A California Highway Patrol officer out of the Dignitary Protection Section was driving the couple from their home in Alameda to an executive board meeting for the state Democratic Party at the Marriott Hotel in Oakland when they were hit around 3:25 p.m., Jacobs said in an interview Saturday.
