Raiders’ CB Gareon Conley sues accuser
Raiders cornerback Gareon Conley has filed a defamation lawsuit against a woman who accused him of sexual assault before last year’s draft — an action he claims cost him money and endorsement deals when he slid into the lower third of the first round.
According to USA Today, the suit was filed in Cuyahoga County (Ohio) on Monday.
Two days before the April 27, 2017, draft, Conley — who played at Ohio State — was accused of raping a woman April 9 in a Cleveland motel room. Widely seen as the best cornerback in the draft and a possible top-10 pick, Conley instead went to the Raiders at No. 24.
