Yolo County fire grows to 22,000 acres, crosses into Napa County
An out-of-control fire burning along Highway 16 in Yolo County doubled in size overnight as dangerous weather conditions persisted in much of Northern California, officials said Sunday.
The County Fire reached 22,000 acres after igniting around 2:15 p.m. Saturday north of Lake Berryessa, near Guinda, a community of about 250 people, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, the state’s firefighting agency also known as Cal Fire.
The conflagration grew by at least 6,000 acres on Sunday alone.
By about 9:30 a.m., the blaze had crossed over the Yolo County line into Napa County.
