NEW YORK (AP) — An activist investor has proposed taking Barnes & Noble private but the company does not consider the offer genuine, the book chain said Thursday. Its shares soared on the report. Sandell Asset Management approached the company with a proposal valuing it at more than $650 million, the company said. The proposal would require debt financing of about $500 million, according to the bookseller. WAKEFIELD, Neb. (AP) — Utility officials say a new wind farm being built in northeastern Nebraska will provide 200 megawatts of power to a planned Facebook data center. The Rattlesnake Creek Wind Project will be built between the towns of Allen, Emerson and Wakefield, the Sioux City Journal reported . Demand for power from Facebook helped resurrect the project that had been at a standstill since 2013 after its former owners, Trade Winds, couldn't find buyers for the energy the farm. ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — Three new cases of Legionnaires' disease have been identified in Southern California and officials are looking at the possibility there may be a source outside Disneyland, where at least 11 of the patients visited in September, according to reports. Legionnaires' has sickened a total of 15 people, two of whom have died.
