AP FACT CHECK: No consensus on government-paid health care

«Seattle Post-Intelligencer» (seattlepi.com)

WASHINGTON (AP) — Americans are not clamoring for single-payer health care, as Sen. Bernie Sanders suggests they are in proposing a plan that would have the government foot most medical bills. He's right that support for the idea has grown and in some polls tops 50 percent. But polls suggest that the prevailing sentiment is ambivalence. Saving money on health insurance holds lots of appeal. Seeing taxes rise to cover those costs may dull the appetite. Sanders' plan, coming out Wednesday, would have... Читать дальше...

Review: Jennifer Lawrence stuns in the audacious 'mother!'

«Seattle Post-Intelligencer» (seattlepi.com)

Women give, men take and the Old Testament crashes into modern anxiety in director Darren Aronofsky's "mother! " It is an audacious, bold and fascinating fever dream of a film. It's allegory for, well, everything (the environment, marriage, art, spirituality, you name it!), that will challenge, distress and edify anyone who chooses to submit themselves to this creation for two hours. Like many Aronofsky endeavors, "mother!" is a film doesn't fit neatly into one genre. It starts out as one thing,... Читать дальше...

«Seattle Post-Intelligencer» (seattlepi.com)

NEW YORK (AP) — Denny's says it's happy its cartoon breakfast sausage mascot is finally getting some attention, even if it's not exactly the kind it wanted. Watch Out: Sacks galore likely in Texans at Bengals

«Seattle Post-Intelligencer» (seattlepi.com)

Judging by the performances of their blockers in the opening week of the season, it's fair to wonder if there will be more sacks than points in Thursday night's game between the Texans and Bengals. Cincinnati allowed Andy Dalton to be trapped five times, half as much as Houston yielded in its loss to Jacksonville. Yes, 10 sacks. At that rate, AJ McCarron might be on the field soon for Cincinnati because of the battering Dalton is taking. As for Tom Savage or Deshaun Watson or whoever is taking snaps for Houston, two words of advice: WATCH OUT! Читать дальше...
