MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Minneapolis officials plan to ask the state for money to help fix an 86-year-old bridge that links the University of Minnesota's East and West Bank campuses. MALVERN, Pa. (AP) — Authorities say a person was struck and killed by a train near Philadelphia on Christmas morning. Amtrak said the person was trespassing on the tracks in Chester County and was hit by a Keystone Service train at about 9:15 a.m. Friday. Amtrak said there were 100 people on the train that was heading west from Philadelphia to Harrisburg, but no passengers or crew members were injured. BLACKFOOT, Idaho (AP) — A southeastern Idaho man has pleaded guilty to two counts of grand theft by embezzlement as part of a plea deal that requires repaying $1.7 million. The Idaho State Journal reports (http://bit.ly/1QYV4Gt) that Russell Leonardson of Idaho Falls made the plea Wednesday in 7th District Court.

Traction tires are required and drivers should expect winter conditions on the roadways over the Cascade Range. The roadway was closed over an 80-mile stretch from North Bend to Ellensburg due to heavy snow fall, trees leaning over the roadway and high avalanche danger.

"WVU has had the longest average away game mileage (1,150 miles one way) of all NCAA DI football teams for the past four years," said Papa, from his office at the Rock Branch Industrial Park near Poca. Papa, a WVU graduate, also picked up the Marshall University football equipment moving business and has served the Herd for two seasons, though he said the two deals are vastly different. (AP) — State police say a 62-year-old Indianapolis man was killed when the minivan he was driving was struck by a train in central Indiana. Police say Kenneth Vansickle was killed in New Ross, 35 miles northwest of Indianapolis, was struck by a train about 1 p.m. Thursday.

FedEx is hoping to ease the disappointment by delivering packages on Christmas Day and opening counters at its Express offices across the U.S. so customers can pick up the gifts themselves. The carrier blames the delayed shipments on inclement weather in parts of the U.S. and a last-minute surge of holiday shopping.
