SEATTLE (AP) — Baltimore Orioles catcher Matt Wieters left Tuesday's game against the Seattle Mariners with a right hamstring strain. Wieters was replaced by Caleb Joseph during a pitching change with one out in the third inning. He had collected one hit in two at-bats prior to being taken out. Wieters is batting .276 with five home runs and 17 RBIs.

BEIJING (AP) — China rattled global financial markets by devaluing its currency in what it said was an effort to make its exchange rate more market-oriented. The move could help Chinese companies by making their products less expensive in global markets. U.S. stocks sank, partly on fears about a worsening economic slowdown in China. While video game creators and filmmakers have recreated the likes of Middle-earth and Jurassic World in VR, activist news organization Ryot is teleporting viewers to real-life conflict zones and disaster areas like Nepal and Syria. HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) — A man who prosecutors say slit the throat of a woman he met to buy a video game from has pleaded guilty to assault and robbery. Thirty-three-year-old Charles Leonard Smith entered the plea Monday in Washington County Circuit Court.

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Environmental groups and state leaders Tuesday renewed calls to fix the wetlands outside New Orleans destroyed by the Mississippi River-Gulf Outlet, a federally built shipping channel blamed for worsening the effects of Hurricane Katrina. PHOENIX (AP) — A monsoon storm packing up to 60 mph winds has left thousands of homes and businesses without electricity for hours in the Phoenix metropolitan area. Officials at Sky Harbor International Airport say about 30 arriving flights were diverted to other airports because of the storm, which also caused some flight delays.

A new Employment Security Department report reveals the state's projections for the fastest-growing occupation groups through 2023.

The rules would ban a manufacturer from buying bulk candy and spraying it with cannabis oil, but not altering an existing product so that it's unrecognizable, such as grinding up chocolate chip cookies to make a cheesecake crust. Deer antlers: Not a weapon for humans. (seattlepi.com file) Seattle police say a man was assaulted with a deer antler Monday afternoon at a downtown homeless shelter. Police were called at 1:22 p.m. to the Compass Center in the 200 block of Alaskan Way South Monday on reports of an assault. The alleged assailant had left the area by the time officers arrived. Christy Hall told a House oversight panel the policy bars employees who leave the agency from working on new road construction projects for 365 days.
