Doncaster RLFC • Brothers

Rugby League Supporters Association Online

The recent signing of Graeme Horne got me thinking. We've had some good brothers at this club over the years. Discuss.
I'll throw Ian and Dale Barrett in to start.

Hi all been a viewer of this forum for a while but finally managed to get round to registering.

I am Warrington fan, and will be posting as when I can or have something to say/comment on

Hoping we have a better season in the next season than the last, although the Challenge Cup was a nice thing to have in what I consider a disaster of a season.

Welcome aboard, and I agree our SL campaign was dreadful, and never got going from June onwards.

I agree someone HG like Greenwood to compete with Martin, Mellor, Ward etc in the back row now Merrin is gone would be decent.
Save the current OS spot for a utility back, someone who can give us some real explosive presence either at wing or centre.
I think with Ava, Prior, Cuthbertson, Crosby, Oledzki and some of the development lads, we’re probably ok for props now. Look to add again once Cuthbertson’s deal expires.

Leigh Centurions • Is this season now or never for promotion?

Rugby League Supporters Association Online

In a rare article on rugby league in the Daily Mail, Robert Elston is attempting to entice investors to put in tens of millions of pounds into the game a la what has happened in R.U. This together with discussions on the new TV contract would seem it to be imperative to get promotion this season. This would also tie in with anniversary celebrations of 2 of our most famous seasons of 1921 and 1971. But the question must be, is this squad strong enough to match Fev. or Toulouse ?

London Broncos • Re: New Rules

Rugby League Supporters Association Online

How many teams last season had to play someone outside the current 19 that had to be named? Very few!
The ability to name 21 gives teams a tactical option. So not really sure what the problem is

Rugby League Supporters Association Online

So. To recap.
Jean and Steph question the viability of Wakefield and Leigh by comparison with Toronto and other (to date) Imaginary expansion areas, are in receipt of posts showing that Leigh and Wakefield are both better production lines as well as being vastly more fiscally viable than Toronto, whilst, London, a true bastion of development and expansion have a side with 70% home-grown talent.
Suddenly Jean and Steph vanish from this thread? Coincidence, or just another example of the troll... Читать дальше...

It's been agreed that the club needs an identity similar to that of Celtic, Liverpool, Newcastle Utd etc in that they may ever so slightly tweak a design but anyone, even an alien will know which club it is when they switch on the tv.

The Broncos are a million miles from being recognisable nationwide on tv however building a shirt identity that at the very least London people will start to recognise has to be the way forward therefore the Black with White/red chevron is unlikely to change year on year. Читать дальше...

I went to the fans forum a couple of months back and the guy in charge of our marketing spoke about Wires marketing campaigns being used to make waves and to try and get up there with the big boys like Saints, Leeds and Wigan. He said we see ourselves as not needing to be as bold, as noisy etc and that we’re trying to show we’re a leading rugby league brand by doing things with class. I’ll be honest it just sounded lazy, as though he felt our name and the signings we’ve made would just do the job. Читать дальше...

Rugby League Supporters Association Online

A member of your marketing team left a couple of years ago (maybe slightly less) and got a more senior role at Warrington. He’s been a major part of their overhaul in terms of their marketing and social media content. I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea but he’s certainly got people talking and created a lot of interest over at Warrington. Fair to say he’s been a loss to Wigan too.

Why would they bother doing that given they've spent the last 9 years slashing and burning everything the working classes rely on yet still got voted back in, to a large extent by them?! Surely logic would suggest they'd carry on doing more of the same to the masochistic Northern electorate?! 'No new policies needed here' I hear Cummings opine, just give the t****s more of the same!

Absolutely. Turn it up to 11.

Maybe a squad overloaded with halves is the way to go, as Broncos have followed suit ! Only difference being only 2 of the 5 have any real experience, the other 3 Academy boys. In fact with 5 halves, 3 hookers and 5 wing/fb in the 25, I struggle to understand the clubs thinking, especially after the colossal inevitable exits, with only 11 left from last year. Still we are favourites which shows what the bookies know.

I don't mind having that type of forward that can't do big minutes but can make yards and do a bit of bulldozing. We already have some big minute props in the squad. Not much on youtube of him but do remember him playing in some NRL games and thinking that he is a bit of a beast.

Wakefield Trinity • So Brexit and the new stadium?

Rugby League Supporters Association Online

I hope I live to see a redeveloped BV or a new stadium but I have heard it all since 1976. Just who is to blame the council past owners
etc. What gets me is Featherstone Rovers can produce a stadium in the lower leagues after being poop upon from a great height by the RFL in 96 like Trinity yet they are cast aside.
I am Trinity through and through but even I think both Trinity and Cas have had enough time and who could blame SL if both were removed if they do not deliver very soon.

Music • Gig Gossip (I'm going to see, I've been to see ...)

Rugby League Supporters Association Online

I was never bothered about going to gigs, or live music in general, but now I've seen where I've been going wrong.
If I'd have known I could come online, say who I'm off to see, then quote that same post the next day and say "it was nice" in response, then I would have started ages ago.

So I'll start now retroactively.

Me yesterday: "I'm off to see Sner Patrer toneet"

Me today: "Me Yesterday: I'm off to see Sner Pertrerrrl toneet"

"I saw Snneeer PerTRERL last night and it wo nice."
