A chimp and a baboon were rescued from cramped conditions by rescue organization Lwiro Primates in the Democratic Republic of Congo on April 19. Along with the help of Kahuzi Biega National Park, Lwiro Primates freed the illegally held chimp and baboon in a village not far from Lwiro in the province of South Kivu. A dog who was believed to be paralyzed after being thrown from a moving car seems to be defying the odds in the latest update from Second Chance Rescue NYC Dogs. In a video posted to the organization’s Facebook page, the puppy named Banky Brewster can be seen making small movements with her back legs. The post states the pup had a difficult hernia surgery and is undergoing physical therapy to help her walk. Puerto Rico was plunged into an island-wide blackout on April 18 after a power failure occurred in the island’s south.
