MOTORISTS in Melbourne’s west have been told to brace for delays after a major smash closed Dynon Rd in West Melbourne.

A chimp and a baboon were rescued from cramped conditions by rescue organization Lwiro Primates in the Democratic Republic of Congo on April 19. Along with the help of Kahuzi Biega National Park, Lwiro Primates freed the illegally held chimp and baboon in a village not far from Lwiro in the province of South Kivu. A dog who was believed to be paralyzed after being thrown from a moving car seems to be defying the odds in the latest update from Second Chance Rescue NYC Dogs. In a video posted to the organization’s Facebook page, the puppy named Banky Brewster can be seen making small movements with her back legs. The post states the pup had a difficult hernia surgery and is undergoing physical therapy to help her walk. Puerto Rico was plunged into an island-wide blackout on April 18 after a power failure occurred in the island’s south. It was the second such outage within two weeks, after a tree fell onto a power line on April 12, crippling electrical services for an estimated 870,000 customers of the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority. A young man has died in hospital after being shot at a unit block north of Brisbane. The 24-year-old was found with a gunshot wound to his chest at the Petrie property just after midnight on Friday. He was in a critical condition when he was taken to hospital, where he later died.

A US prosecutor says no criminal charges will be filed over the death of pop star Prince. An autopsy found Prince died of an accidental overdose of the drug Fentanyl, after he took counterfeit pills containing the powerful painkiller his Paisley Park home near Minneapolis in 2016. A two-year inquiry was launched into how the musician got the Fentanyl but authorities have failed to determine where it came from.
