Southwest Airlines Co. shares fell 4.5% in premarket trades on Thursday after the company said its second-quarter net income more than doubled to $760 million, or $1.20 a share, from $348 million, or 57 cents a share, in the year-ago quarter. JetBlue and Spirit Airlines reach merger pact

Honeywell International Inc. said Thursday its second-quarter net income fell to $1.26 billion, or $1.84 a share, from $1.45 billion, or $2.04 a share, in the year-ago quarter. Adjusted earnings in the three months ended June 30 totaled $2.10 a share. Revenue rose to $8.95 billion from $8.81 billion. JetBlue Airways Corporation and Spirit Airlines Inc. said Thursday they have agreed that JetBlue will acquire Spirit in a deal with an equity value of $3.8 billion that ends a 3-way merger battle with Frontier Group Holdings Inc. . JetBlue will pay $33.50 a share in cash and a ticking fee of 10 cents per month starting in Jan. 2023 through closing, creating an adjusted enterprise value of $7.6 billion. Southwest Airlines Co. said Thursday it is eliminating expiration dates on all flight credits that are currently unexpired, or for those created on our after July 28. The air carrier said its customers will initially see a placeholder expiration date of Dec. 31, 2040 on their flight credits, until technology is updated to remove all expiration dates.
