Did J.K. Rowling just tease a new Harry Potter sequel?
Twenty two years after the first book was published, the world is still obsessed with all things Harry Potter. Did you know you can now get Harry Potter goblin tutors to help you study for your exams? Or that you’ll be able to get your hands on a Harry Potter beauty advent calendar this year? Or that you can actually spend Halloween at Hogwarts (if your bank balance allows)?
But how would you feel about a new Harry Potter sequel? Excited? Nervous? Ready to throw all your hard earned Galleons at it?
Potterheads across the globe are convinced that J. K. Rowling’s latest cryptic tweet is teasing a follow-up and we couldn’t be more ready. The author tweeted a picture of Voldemort’s dark mark, writing: ‘Sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places,’ with the hashtags ‘Harry Potter’ and ‘Cursed Child’.

Many are speculating that there will be a sequel to her two-part novel and stage play, The Cursed Child, despite the fact that Rowling has previously insisted that she has wrapped up all things wizarding world.
Fans rushed to Twitter to share their excitement, with one writing: ‘Oh my god. If this means what I think it means… You gave us a true gift in Cursed Child and no one can take that away. The play will always be the thing.’
The play, which premiered in London in July 2016, is set 19 years after the showdown in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and follows Harry’s son, Albus Severus Potter, as he starts at Hogwarts.
However, rumours that it would be made into a movie were quashed by Broadway reps who told Entertainment Weekly: ‘I can confirm that these rumours are absolutely NOT TRUE.
‘The show has not changed ownership. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child continues to be produced by Sonia Friedman, Colin Callender and Harry Potter Theatrical Productions in London, Broadway and all around the world.
‘Warner Bros. has always been a valued partner of Cursed Child since its inception. Their role has not changed.’
Pottermore also got involved to confirm that there wouldn’t be a movie, but that something was on the way…
They tweeted: ‘There is something exciting coming later on from @CursedChildNYC, but it’s not a movie…’
