Yusuke Konno and Ryo Nakai to fight in Thailand on November 26th
Earlier today we were informed of two fighters being featured on a show in Thailand on November 26th.
The show hasn't yet had all the bouts announced for it, but we have been informed that two Kadoebi Gym fighters will be on the show, which takes place in Bangkok in the afternoon, in 6 rounders
One of those Kadoebi fighters is Ryo Nakai (0-0-1) [中井龍], who looks to score his first win as a professional following a draw with unbeaten Filipino Jay Lloyd Quidlat. The 21 year old Nakai turned professional in a 6 rounder, following a 30-16 (15) amateur record, and whilst he was held to a draw there is pretty big expectations on his shoulders following a pretty strong amateur background. The fact he debuted in a 6 rounder against an unbeaten prospect shows the belief his team have in him, and the fact he's now set for his international debut is certainly evidence that Kadoebi want him to get international experience before he gets bigger bouts on the road.
The other Kadoebi fighter booked for this card is the often over-looked, though hugely fun to watch, Yusuke Konno (15-4, 8) [今野裕介], the current WBA Asia Light Welterweight champion.
The talented Konno is looking to to secure his 5th straight win, and 9th win in 10. Although Konno's record doesn't look impressive he has been impressive with wins over Kazuya Maruki, Vladimir Baez and, most recently, Baishanbo Nasiyiwula. The win over Baishanbo was a huge one in China and sadly Konno hasn't been able to build on it, though a bout now in Thailand does keep the exciting 140lb slugger busy before a bigger bout at some point in 2020.
At the time of writing neither Nakai or Konno have had their opponents named, though we suspect opponents will be local novices, with the focus being more about keeping the two busy than really forwarding their career with big wins.
