The US dollar fell and was on course for its worst week in more than a month, while Treasury yields fell after underlying US inflation data offset higher gasoline prices and strong retail sales in the wake of disruptions caused by hurricanes. I refer to the letter by Patrick Farrugia (September 26) in which he records the evolution of the Dockyard Defence Battery (Royal Artillery) into, later,the Royal Malta Artillery (30th LAA Battery) and then theeventual absorption into the3rd Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment of the RMA (on April 28, 1941). The question of cremation continues to arise but still remains unresolved. The Vatican has accepted cremation as an alternative to burial but Malta continues to ‘lag behind’. Cremation on our little island would make great sense. There are opportunities to have a ‘win’ situation for the Church, the environment and the people. Instead of taking valuable space with austere graveyards we could create woodlands that are grown over the ashes of our loved ones, a place where we can visit and spend time with our children. I am 83 years of age and wish to take the opportunity to thank a most conscious and honest person for her devotion and interest in her clients. She has helped to ease all of my pains, which were caused by  arthritis all over my body. I have had all this since the age of 60 and no one else could cure me before. I am, thus, very grateful to her because a friend in need is a friend indeed. May God bless her and may the Lord go with her all the way.
