The two members of the Broadcasting Authority unofficially nominated by the Labour Party have stepped down, the Times of Malta is informed. Both Reno Borg and Rose Sciberras tendered their resignation from the constitutionally-appointed body for different reasons. Sources close to the Labour Party said Dr Borg, a lawyer by profession, resigned after he was appointed arbiter for financial services by the Finance Minister. A “limitless” budget was allocated by the State broadcaster to this year’s Eurovision Song Contest participation in a bid to boosting Ira Losco’s chances of winning in Stockholm tomorrow, according to industry sources.
