BCCI to wait before organising skill-based camp for contracted players

The BCCI will coordinate with its state units to ensure that the players get to start skill-based training at local level after the government announced new regulations for the fourth phase of coronavirus-forced lockdown, treasurer Arun Dhumal said on Sunday.

Aarogya Setu usage compulsory in SAI's SOP for training resumption

Compulsory usage of the Aarogya Setu app, nomination of a hygiene officer by National Sports Federations (NSF) to ensure compliance and implementation of all protective measures for athlete and staff safety, elimination of the usage of locker rooms and maintaining a distance of "1.5 to 2 metres" are among the measures suggested by the committee put together by the Sports Authority of India (SAI) in their Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for resumption of training across the country.



Covid-19: New cases top 5,000; deaths up by 154

Covid-19 infections continued to surge in the country on the last day of lockdown 3.0, with the number of new cases topping 5,000 in a single day for the first time on Sunday on the back of another explosion of cases in Maharashtra, which reported a record 2,347 fresh infections. India’s overall Covid-19 death toll crossed the 3,000 mark and stood at 3,023 — a mortality rate of 3.2%.

Sports complexes and stadia were on Sunday permitted to open but declared out of bounds for spectators in the fourth phase of the coronavirus-forced lockdown, possibly clearing the path for at least the resumption of halted training camps. "Sports complexes and stadia will be permitted to open, however, spectators won't be allowed," the govt said.
