Police: Officer fatally shoots man in 2-state chase
PHENIX CITY, Ala. — Police say a west Georgia police officer fatally shot a man in a car chase that ended in eastern Alabama.
Columbus Police Chief Ricky Boren tells multiple news outlets that the chase started around 4 a.m. Sunday in Columbus, Georgia, and ended in Phenix City, Alabama, where the shooting occurred.
Russell County District Attorney Kenneth Davis tells the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer that the officer believed the vehicle was stolen and was being used as a weapon.
