Dozen parties call for power change in Armenia – Eduard Sharmazanov
Armenia’s Parliament has a dozen parties or political forces like the one led by Vartan Oskanian made similar appeals.
“There is nothing new about it and I do not see any need for special attention, Armenian Parliament Vice-Speaker, Spokesman for the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) Eduard Sharmazanov told Tert.am as he commented on Mr Oskanian’s statement that the Consolidation party is laying claims to a power change.
“Let Mr Oskanian join the opposition ranks first, and we’ll talk to him later,” Mr Sharmazanov said.
According to Mr Sharmazanov, in Parliament he responded to Mr Oskanian’s claims that Armenia’s authorities have rigged elections for the last 20 years.
“And I noted that he was one of the key figures in power during the first decade in the last 20 years, which means that he represented the authorities that would rig election. I do not understand this excitement. Mr Oskanian is not the only one to say it,” Mr Sharmazanov said.
Samvel Nikoyan, an MP of the ruling republican party of Armenia (RPA), said that all political forces normally bid for a power change. He does not see any reasons for concern.
