World's most hen-pecked man: French Adventurer sailing around the world with amazing pet
Most round-the-world sailors would want to travel with expert navigators - but one man has decided to do make the journey with his pet hen instead.
Guirec Soudee, from Brittany, France, has been travelling around the world with his pet, Monique, for the past two years.
But his feathered friend is more than just a companion - she also keeps the 24-year-old Frenchman fit and healthy with her eggs, reports the Daily Mail.
Soudee has described himself as being adventurous from a young age on his website.
He left home at 18 and travelled to Australia before making his slow migration back to Europe to embark on his current sailing adventures.
It was in the Canary Islands that he first met Monique, who was given to him as a gift.
The sailor wrote on his website: “It was love at first sight!”
Soudee and Monique are currently travelling on a 30-year-old boat called Yvinec.
The Frenchman has been documenting his adventures on Facebook and Instagram, attracting the attention of thousands of fans with his unusual travel companion.
After setting off from the Canary Islands in May 2014, they travelled across the Atlantic to the Caribbean.
The young traveller hoped that the hen might provide him with sustenance on his sea journeys, which she has more than delivered by laying 25 eggs during the 28-day transatlantic crossing.
With just pennies to their name when they arrived, the pair had to stay in St Barths to prepare their ship and to earn money for the rest of their journey.
While in the Caribbean, they also explored the Grenadines and British Virgin Islands.
In August 2015, they reached Greenland, where they're planning to stay until they decide where to go next.
Soudee hopes that through his adventures, he will 'help people to realise their dreams, to live their passions, to encourage them to face their fears and discover their hidden resources'.
He also hopes that his journey will raise awareness for environmental preservation.
On a separate note, Soudee is more than happy to have a human travelling companion.
He wrote: "Ladies, do not hesitate to apply, all applications will be considered carefully!"
