OSCE Minsk Group’s statement reflects Armenian president’s statement – David Babayan
In an interview with Tert.am, David Babayan, Spokesman for the President of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR), commented on the OSCE Minsk Group’s statement, wherein the co-chairs state their willingness to facilitate this meeting next week in Vienna.
Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan highlighted the circumstances that would make resumption of negotiations possible.
“The co-chairs’ statement contains points reflecting the Armenian president’s words. Therefore, the co-chairs are expected to accept the ideas and highlight peace and stability, rejecting any military settlement,” Mr Babayan said.
The issues will be negotiated with specific agreements to be reached.
“No effort must be spared for regional peace and stability. To ensue this, we need mechanisms to register ceasefire violations – which side and when commits ceasefire violations,” Mr Babayan said.
“Observation of ceasefire and Azerbaijan abandoning its aggressive policy is the most important thing,” he added.
The international community must force Azerbaijan to honor the ceasefire agreement. And one of the options is to introduce the aforementioned mechanism, installing devices along the border, possible involvement of human resources, for example the office of the Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office, who are conducting monitoring.
