Notes: 49ers might have just three 1st-round picks available Sunday
Right tackle Anthony Davis retired in September, defensive tackle Arik Armstead went on injured reserve last week, safety Eric Reid sustained a season-ending bicep injury Sunday and cornerback Jimmie Ward is in concussion protocol.
Will the 49ers have any of their former first-round picks available Sunday when they visit the Dolphins?
Yes, left tackle Joe Staley and their most recent first-rounders, defensive tackle DeForest Buckner and guard Joshua Garnett, will be on the 46-man game-day roster, which makes them an exception.
Here’s a look at the 49ers’ first-round picks since 2010:
No. 18: S Eric Reid (sustained season-ending bicep injury Sunday)
No. 30: CB Jimmie Ward (in concussion protocol after he was injured Sunday)
No. 17: DT Arik Armstead (placed on IR last week with a shoulder injury)
Ward started in place of Reid in the 2014 regular-season finale, which is the only game Reid has missed in his four-year career.
Ward, who was injured in the fourth quarter of the 30-17 loss to the Patriots, was riding a stationary bike in the weight room at the start of this morning’s practice.
In other injury news, wide receiver Torrey Smith (shoulder), who missed the first game of his six-year career Sunday, remained in a non-contact jersey.
Defensive tackle Quinton Dial (knee, neck) is not practicing.
The 49ers will play their final six regular-season games without three of their best defensive players:
Armstead, Reid and inside linebacker NaVorro Bowman, who sustained a season-ending torn Achilles in Week 4.
