CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) — An 84-year-old former University of Virginia police officer has been charged with murder in the fatal shooting of his son. Albemarle County police say 47-year-old Matthew Short died Friday night after being shot Wednesday night. His father, Donald Short, had been charged with malicious wounding after the shooting.
