RENO, Nev. (AP) — A winter storm packing winds in excess of 100 mph dropped about a half-foot of snow on parts of the Sierra and triggered power outages at more than 1,000 homes in the Reno area. A couple inches of snow slowed the morning commute in the Reno-Sparks area where several slide-offs were reported early Wednesday and chain controls remained in effect over most mountain passes. The Times Herald of Port Huron reports the court found that some sentencing guideline rankings were incorrect for Elizabeth Long of St. Clair County. Long was sentenced in 2016 to 22-50 years in prison after jury found her guilty of second-degree murder and second-degree child abuse. NEW YORK (AP) — Uber has named Barney Harford its new COO, the same day the European Union's top court dealt it a blow, ruling that the ride-hailing company should be regulated like a taxi company and not a technology service. CHELSEA, Vt. (AP) — A New Hampshire medical center has settled a medical malpractice lawsuit for $2 million with the family of a Vermont high school athlete who died in 2014. MEXICO CITY (AP) — Canadian officials are confirming that one of their citizens was among the tourists killed in a bus crash in Mexico. Philip Hannan, a spokesman with Global Affairs Canada, says that three Canadians were also among the 20 injured in the accident.
