Ratings: ‘This Is Us’ Recovers Nicely With No World Series Competition

«SFGate» (sfgate.com)

“This Is Us” took a beating last week from Fox’s World Series Game 6. The NBC drama recovered pretty nicely this Tuesday, growing 25 percent from that prior episode in the key 18-49 demographic. NBC finished first in that advertiser-coveted age range, though CBS drew the most total viewers in each of primetime’s six half-hour time slots. Lower down the night’s Nielsen rankings, ABC squeaked out a third-place demo finish over Fox and The CW. Also Read: Ratings: CBS Gains on Monday After Benching 'Me... Читать дальше...

AP PHOTOS: Homelessness stresses services on West Coast

«SFGate» (sfgate.com)

Homelessness is not a new issue to America's West Coast. But it's getting worse — much worse. On any given night, more than 105,000 people are sleeping unsheltered in some of the country's biggest and trendiest metropolises, driven there by soaring housing costs, rental vacancy rates that rival those in Manhattan and a booming tech economy that's leaving thousands behind. Another 63,000 are sleeping in shelters or transitional housing with no safety net. The rising numbers have pushed abject poverty into the open like never before. Читать дальше...

They have encountered him before; they know he's teasing when he gives a phony name. Gladys Rivera and Ali Olson are part of a citywide, round-the-clock army of workers for nonprofits contracted by the city. Читать дальше...
