HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — Police in Pennsylvania say they've arrested a man who showed up to an elementary school intoxicated hoping to vote a day before the ballot boxes opened. Authorities have charged 34-year-old Douglas Shuttlesworth with a DUI after they found him at a school in Harrisburg on Monday. Police say Shuttlesworth appeared intoxicated and they later found out he drove to the school thinking it was election day. ST. LOUIS (AP) — St. Louis police are searching for the gunmen who opened fire on an SUV, killing a man. The shooting happened Tuesday night near Interstate 70. The dead man has not been identified. Police say the man was driving the SUV and stopped at an intersection when another SUV pulled up. People inside that vehicle began shooting. The victim tried to drive away but crashed into a guardrail. He was pronounced dead at a hospital. A passenger in his SUV was not hurt. Police do not have a description of the shooters... FLORENCE, Ala. (AP) — Authorities say deputies looking for burglary suspects in northwest Alabama wound up shooting a man who attempted to flee in a car. Lauderdale County Sheriff Rick Singleton tells reporters the shooting occurred about 3 a.m. Wednesday in a rural area. Deputies began looking for a vehicle after receiving calls about a burglary in Florence, and the sheriff says three officers stopped a car with three men inside. The San Francisco band’s touring guitarist Kryz Reid broke his arm and was knocked unconscious after slipping on ice during a tour stop in Billings, MT, on Nov. 7. FAIRBANKS, Alaska (AP) — A man accused of stealing a motorized shopping cart from an Alaska grocery store didn't get very far or go very fast before his low-speed getaway attempt was foiled by police. ABERDEEN, S.D. (AP) — Two inmates have been sentenced to prison for damaging the Brown County Jail. Twenty-nine-year-old Chad Neal, of Rapid City, and 21-year-old Tanner Dvorak, of Sioux Falls, both pleaded guilty to felony damage to property for plugging toilets at the jail with laundry bags last May. The vandalism flooded part of the jail and caused more than $1,100 in damage. The Aberdeen American News says Neal was sentenced to two years in prison. Dvorak was given five years in prison with credit for about 200 days served.

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — In an election in which many races went to Democrats, voters in Syracuse broke with both parties and elected an independent as mayor. Ben Walsh captured 54 percent of the vote in Tuesday's four-way race. The 38-year-old has worked in community development and is the son of former Republican congressman Jim Walsh.
