LOS ANGELES (AP) — Jerry Lewis, whose career as producer-director-writer and movie star peaked in the 1960s, may be best remembered by younger generations for the muscular dystrophy telethons he conducted every Labor Day weekend. VINCENNES, Ind. (AP) — A national park in southern Indiana is discouraging visitors from taking part in a scavenger hunt-type fad where people paint rocks and leave them places. The rock-painting trend has recently become a problem at the George Rogers Clark National Historical Park in Vincennes. WASHINGTON (AP) — U.S., Canadian and Mexican negotiators are pledging to work quickly to update the North American Free Trade Agreement, a 23-year-old pact that President Donald Trump has called the worst trade deal in history. The first round of NAFTA renegotiations talks were wrapped up Sunday. The three countries said they planned to meet again in Mexico Sept. 1-5, in Canada late next month and back in the United States in October. They did not offer details on the five-day talks. EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Michigan State University researchers are using a federal grant to incorporate computation into high school science classrooms in the state. The East Lansing school said four of its researchers have received a three-year, $1.2 million National Science Foundation grant. A release says they will design a development program for physics teachers to engage students through computational activities. HARARE, Zimbabwe — Granted diplomatic immunity by South Africa, the wife of Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe returned home from Johannesburg on Sunday despite calls that she be prosecuted for allegedly assaulting a young model at a luxury hotel there. ABU GHADDUR, Iraq — U.S.-backed Iraqi forces began a multipronged assault Sunday to retake the town of Tal Afar, west of Mosul, marking the next phase in the country’s war on the Islamic State group.
