LAS VEGAS (AP) — A suspicious package found on a Las Vegas overpass is not a threat. A bomb squad determined Saturday morning that the package was not a danger and road closures have been taken down. The Nevada Highway Patrol shut down traffic around Interstate 15 and Russell Road for roughly four hours. The incident began when a man working on his vehicle says someone drove up and dropped the package by his car. Troopers investigated and made the decision to close part of I-15 and Russell Road.

(AP) — A for-profit company that operates online charter schools in California has agreed to a $168.5 million settlement with the state over claims it manipulated attendance records and overstated the academic progress of students. The settlement comes almost three months after the Bay Area News Group published an investigation of K12 Inc., which received more than $310 million in state funding for its profitable but low-performing network of California Virtual Academies, which serve about 15,000 students.

PHOENIX (AP) — Three men were arrested for throwing rocks at officers after police used tear gas and pepper spray at a late-night Phoenix demonstration over the recent shootings of black men by police, authorities said Saturday.
