A Catholic bishop from Vermont who worked closely with Bernard Law at the Archdiocese of Boston says the embattled cardinal's life was marked by "light and shadows" like everyone else.
Bishop Christopher Coyne said in a statement Wednesday that while he knew Law to be a man of faith, a kind man and a good friend, he respects that some will feel otherwise. Coyne asked that they join him in prayer "and work for the healing and renewal of our church."
Coyne became bishop in 2014.
