Camera equipment of KGO-TV news crew stolen outside SF City Hall
The camera equipment of a KGO-TV news crew was stolen Monday night outside San Francisco City Hall, just as they were preparing for a live broadcast in front of a memorial for Mayor Ed Lee.
The theft took place around 6 p.m., on the Polk Street side of the City Hall, where mourners left hundreds of bouquets, condolence notes and mementos for the late mayor, who died on Dec. 12 after suffering a heart attack.
“A news van was parked on the street that was getting ready to do a broadcast in the area and they had situated their equipment in the rear of their van that was secure,” said Officer Robert Rueca, a San Francisco Police Department spokesman.
