Former Beaumont officials plead guilty to corruption charges
RIVERSIDE, Calif. (AP) — A former city manager and three other ex-officials of the Southern California city of Beaumont have pleaded guilty to charges in a sweeping corruption case.
Alan Kapanicas entered pleas Tuesday along with his former finance director, planning director and director of economic development. The charges ranged from embezzlement to conflict of interest and misappropriating public funds.
The four were sentenced to electronic monitoring for up to a year and to repay about $8 million to the city.
