States sue over Trump’s DACA decision
The first lawsuit challenging President Trump’s planned repeal of the program allowing nearly 800,000 young undocumented immigrants to remain in the United States argues that the order is a thinly disguised act of discrimination against Mexicans — and that Trump’s own words are the best evidence.
It’s no coincidence, lawyers for New York, 15 other states and the District of Columbia said Wednesday, that most participants in the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program are Mexican, and that Trump has referred to some Mexican immigrants as rapists and drug dealers, accused a federal judge of bias because of his Mexican heritage, and sought to build a wall on the Mexican border.
