The Trump administration wants to abandon EPA restrictions that would likely have halted a huge open pit copper and gold mine in Alaska.  The mine would  be located between two of Bristol Bay's premier salmon watersheds.  Bristol Bay is home to the world's greatest sockeye salmon fishery.

LIMA, Peru (AP) — Protesters in Peru blocked the train line to the famed Inca citadel of Machu Picchu, stranding thousands of tourists Wednesday. The customer service desk for the British-owned PeruRail company said service was being suspended Wednesday and Thursday because of the protest by local residents demanding that the government reverse its cancellation of a planned new airport. U.S. stocks moved higher in afternoon trading Wednesday after Federal Reserve chair Janet Yellen told Congress that the central bank expects to raise interest rates at a gradual pace. The gains were broad, with real estate companies leading the pack as a slide in bond yields made high-dividend paying stocks more attractive. WILSONVILLE, Ore. (AP) — Microsoft is closing the Wilsonville, Oregon, plant that produced the Surface Hub, its giant touchscreen computer for conference rooms.
