Speaking at WSJDLive, The Wall Street Journal's global technology conference, Apple CEO Tim Cook said the company has 6.5 million paying customers for Apple Music and 8.5 million customers on three-month trials. The newspaper says (http://on.wsj.com/1LAy1Mz ) in a report from Laguna Beach, California, posted early Tuesday on its website that Apple launched Apple Music on June 30 and offered every user a three-month trial period.

The rape in December last year prompted widespread protests in India against sexual violence and led to demands for more effort to ensure women's safety. The rape case dealt a blow to Uber, which has attracted global popularity and controversy with a service that lets passengers summon cars through an app in more than 250 cities around the world. The Delhi government banned app-based taxi companies after the incident, accusing the taxi companies of failing to carry out background checks on the drivers they hired.

The research organization Mintel found that 57 percent of surveyed consumers are suspicious of companies or products that only have positive online reviews. Pat Woodell, who played Bobbie Jo Bradley on the 1960s sitcom Petticoat Junction, died of cancer on Sept. 29 at her home in Fallbrook, Calif., The Associated Press reports. Woodell went on to tour with comedian Jack Benny, and performed on The Ed Sullivan Show in 1964 with the Ladybugs, a take on The Beatles that featured Woodell and her onscreen sisters, Linda Kaye and Jeannine Riley.

Tracy Morgan is continuing his comeback by launching a full-scale stand-up tour next year. Morgan announced the "Picking Up the Pieces" tour with a tweet on Tuesday, linking to a string of dates that includes an April Fool's gig at New York City's Madison Square Garden.

Khloe Kardashian has finally broken her silence about her estranged husband Lamar Odom's recent hospitalization. Kardashian, who married Odom in 2009 before separating in 2013, also thanked the staff at Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas. American Horror Story often draws inspiration from real-life events, and this might be more true than ever for Hotel, which introduced Evan Peters' horrific take on serial killer H.H. Holmes last week. B.D. Wong will reprise his role as psychiatrist Dr. George Huang on an episode scheduled to air this November, TVGuide.com has learned exclusively. The episode returns to the case from the show's 300th episode, in which Benson (Mariska Hargitay) solved a child abduction that had haunted her for more than a decade. Empire's co-creator Lee Daniels is hoping to score again with a new music drama, Star. The new pilot will follow four young women who have dreams of hitting it big in entertainment and how the choices they make, especially in the face of the music biz's temptations, raise new challenges. The tile character is a tough, 18-year-old white woman "with a badass attitude." Sounds like she doesn't fall far from the Cookie tree!

If there was any doubt before, the music video for One Direction's "Perfect" adds some new evidence to the theory that the song is about Harry Styles' exTaylor Swift. Right as the boys get to the lyric, "And if you like cameras flashing every time we go out/If you're looking for someone to write your breakup songs about," the camera focuses right on Harry.

A new trailer for Fox's X-Files revival shows Agent Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) starting to have doubts about his life's work. The six-episode event series, which premieres on Sunday, Jan. 24 after the NFC championship game, reunites Mulder and his partner, Agent Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) as they investigate paranormal activities.

On Monday, BBC Films and Fox Searchlight Pictures released the photo, which depicts Edina (Jennifer Saunders) and Patsy (Joanna Lumley) soaking up the sun as they enjoy champagne on a boat. The film version of the classic BBC comedy follows Edina and Patsy as they weather scandal after being blamed for a "major incident" at a launch party. The movie is currently filming in the U.K. and the South of France, and is scheduled to hit theaters in 2016.

Miamistar Kevin Pew, has been charged with first-degree murder after he allegedly shot and killed a family friend during a viewing party, the Sun Sentinel reports. Police were called to the home around 10 p.m. and arrested Hashim, who is charged with premeditated murder.
