Tropical Storm Hermine began moving out of the Lowcountry on Friday evening, leaving behind little damage except for power outages and dropping about five to 10 inches of rain.
Tropical Storm Hermine’s winds have dropped to 50 mph, and the strongest have been recorded out to sea, federal forecasters said at 11 a.m.
A tornado watch was issued at 6 a.m. for the southern tier coastal counties of Beaufort, Jasper and Hampton as the stronger winds of now Tropical Storm Hermine began to blow in the Lowcountry. The storm was centered less than 200 miles from Charleston moving past Valdosta, Ga.
