Microsoft is getting a lot of good press for its redesigned Surface tablets, especially the Surface Book. I’m sure they’re nice machines, but I find it hard to get too excited about tablets these days. Instead, I’m seriously Jonesing for Microsoft’s other Surface, the Surface Hub, which finally started shipping last week.

CISOs tend to spend the bulk of their cybersecurity technology budgets on endpoint, server, and network security controls.  Okay, this makes sense from a historical perspective but these IT assets are in a state of flux today.  Endpoints are often mobile devices rather than Windows PCs while servers are virtual or cloud-based workloads.  Meanwhile, networks are also moving to a virtual model composed of public and private network segments.

Windows wants you back, diehard desktop users. Windows 8 may have left a nasty taste in the mouth of PC enthusiasts, and Microsoft’s aggressive upgrade tactics aren’t helping its cause, but make no mistake: Windows 10 is a superb operating system—possibly Microsoft’s best yet, despite some flaws.

For its 2016 IT Salary Survey, CSO Online's sister site Computerworld polled IT professionals across the full spectrum of job titles and functions. What they told us in some ways reflects what we already know to be true: Security pros are paid well, rate job satisfaction high, and will make a move for money.
