For Cisco customers, the process of buying network infrastructure has always been to buy a device and pay a bundled price for hardware and software. This means in year zero (at purchase time), customers need to lay out a huge chunk of money to pay for the products. Then the customer would use the products for anywhere from two to seven years, depending on what it is, and then go through the same process at refresh time.

By opening the floodgates, Looker has fueled new growth to the tune of a 5 times increase in revenue over the past 12 months, adding over 100 enterprise customers such as Autodesk, Birchbox, and Harvard Business Review in Q2, and doubling data usage every three months.

Cylance’s mission is big, "to protect every endpoint on the planet," according to Chief Marketing Officer Greg Fitzgerald. It's official: BlackBerry's next phone will run Android.

The phone, called Priv, will also include BlackBerry security and productivity tools, Chairman and CEO John Chen told investors early Friday.

The move suggests that Chen still can't decide whether BlackBerry should focus on the more profitable enterprise mobile device and application management software sector, or remain a loss-making phone maker with one foot still in the cut-throat consumer electronics market.
