Armenian President highlights his idea of a club of "small but successful” states
“If world powers can influence the world, why can’t small countries do the same? I discussed my idea with leaders of small but successful states recently, in particular, with the Prime Minister of Singapore, the Emir of Qatar, the leader of UAE, and the President of Israel. In all these countries, one can notice the importance of technologies and new mentality,” said President Sarkissian during the online Global Leadership Summit and Festival of AI & Emerging Technology.
“It would not be a club for discussions on economic, geopolitical or military issues. It would be a club where we can share our values and ideas and unite efforts to learn from each other. We have to unite not against somebody, but for the sake of our planet. The club is not designed to replace any international organization or be an alternative to the existing organizations. It ought to unite small but successful countries and be a space where they present their achievements and vision of the future and support each other. If we try to replace an organization, the initiative will fail. We have to support the organizations that already exist,” said Armen Sarkissian.
The President first mentioned his idea of a club of small but successful countries in January 2020 in Zurich.
