6 soldiers, 1 civilian wounded in landmine explosion in Iloilo
Bacolod City – Six army soldiers and a civilian were wounded when an improvised explosive device (IED) used as a landmine exploded in a populated area along the highway of San Joaquin, Iloilo, at about 3:50 a.m. of Dec. 14. The civilian was identified as Bryan Servano who is now confined at the Guimbal hospital. He was in a house near explosion. Lt. Col. Enriqueto Deocadez Jr., Commanding Officer of 82nd Infantry (Bantay-Laya) Battalio based in Miag-ao, Iloilo reported that his troops were heading to Antique on board two military trucks when 10 men believed to be members of the NPA detonated an IED. The soldiers sustained minor injuries and are now in stable condition and are back to duty after they were treated as out-patients in a hospital in Guimbal, Iloilo.
