Year 2016 will be crucial for Philippine agriculture as it faces a drier weather due to a stronger El Niño but this will not be the only thing that the sector will have to face. Other than that, the Department of Agriculture (DA) will also have to think of ways on how to improve palay and corn production, boost the livestock sector, among others. Four recorded deaths recorded in Oriental Mindoro in just one month prompted the local government to remind residents to stay away from stray dogs. “I call on everyone to be cautious, avoid contact with stray animals and educate every member of the family on the dangers of petting and bringing them home as they may be infected with the rabies virus,” Department of Health (DOH) Regional Director Eduardo C. Moscow - Russia is warming more than twice as fast as the average for the rest of the world, the environment ministry said Friday, sounding an alarm on the rise in floods and wildfires nationwide. A government report on environmental protection said temperatures in Russia had warmed by 0.42 degrees Celsius per decade since 1976, or 2.5 times quicker than the global warming trend of 0.17 degrees. “Climate change leads to growth of dangerous meteorological phenomena,” the ministry said in a comment to the report published Friday.
