Marsh & McLennan Cos. on Monday said John Q. Doyle, 58, will become chief executive officer of the risk advisory and insurance giant on Jan. 1. Doyle has been group president and chief operating officer of Marsh & McLennan since January. From 2017 to 2021, he worked as president and CEO of the company's Marsh unit. CEO Daniel S. Shares of Ballard Power Systems Inc. rose 0.6% in premarket trading Monday, after the fuel cell power company announced an order from Switzerland-based Stadler Rail AG for the supply of six fuel cell engines. Ballard said the engines will be used to power the first hydrogen train in the U.S. The train, which will seat over 100 passengers, is expected to be in service in San Bernardino, Calif. in 2024. Rackspace Technology Inc. on Monday named chief financial officer Amar Maletira as chief executive officer of the company, which is majority owned by Apollo Global Management Inc. . Kevin Jones, who has been in the role of CEO for three-and-a-half years, will become an operating advisor with Apollo. Rackspace Technology also said it continues to expect third-quarter earnings of 8 cents to 10 cents a share. Shares of Macy's Inc. fell 1.0% in premarket trading Monday, after the department store chain announced plans to hire more than 41,000 seasonal employees before the holidays, down 46% from the previous year's hiring plans. The full- and part-time seasonal hires will be for Macy's namesake stores, as well as for stores under the Bloomingdale's and Bluemercury banners, and for the company's supply chain locations and call centers. CEO and co-founder Peter Weinberg will step down at the end of the year but will remain as chairman of the board and also chairman of the working partner committee for the company's high-vote stock. Canadian energy company Hammerhead Resources Inc. is going public via a merger with Decarbonization Plus Acquisition Corporation IV in a deal valued at about C$1.39 billion ($1.02 billion), the companies said in a joint statement. Pfizer Inc. and German partner BioNTech SE said Monday they have submitted an application to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration seeking an emergency use authorization for their bivalent vaccine booster for use in children aged 5 to 11 years of age.
