U.S. wages rose in 2021 at quickest pace in decades

CinCor Pharma Inc. is set to go public on the Nasdaq Friday, after the Massachusetts-based biopharmaceutical company's upsized initial public offering priced overnight at $16 a share, in the middle of the expected range of between $15 and $17 a share. The company raised $193.6 million as it sold 12.1 million shares in the IPO, up from previous expectations of an 11.0 million share offering. U.S. economy added 199,000 jobs in December; unemployment falls to 3.9%

Papa John's International Inc. said early Friday that it has signed a franchisee development agreement with Asian private-equity firm Fountainvest Partners to open more than 1,350 locations in South China by 2040. This is the biggest franchisee deal in Papa John's history. Fountainvest has also purchased a majority stake in another Papa John's franchisee CFB Group, which owns and operates 160 restaurants in Shanghai and southern China. Willis Towers Watson said it will change its Nasdaq stock ticker symbol to "WTW" at the open of market trading on Monday, Jan. 10. No action is required from Willis Towers Watson shareholders, the company said on Friday. Willis Towers Watson CEO Carl Hess said the change, "is just one of the ways we are simplifying to increase our agility and effectiveness, as we move forward as a strong and independent WTW." Shares of Exscientia jumped 14.3% in premarket trading on Friday after it announced a deal with Sanofi to develop up to 15 new oncology and immunology drug candidates using Exscientia's artificial intelligence platform. Acuity Brands Inc. reported Friday fiscal first-quarter profit and sales that rose above expectations, as lighting and lighting controls sales showed strength despite supply chain challenges. The stock was still inactive in premarket trading. Net income grew to $87.6 million, or $2.46 a share, from $59.6 million, or $1.57 a share, in the year-ago period.
