EIA reports a bigger-than-expected decline in U.S. crude supplies
Oil prices continued to trade lower on Thursday after the Energy Information Administration reported that domestic crude supplies fell by 4.3 million barrels for the week ended Aug. 31. The data were released a day later than usual due to Monday's Labor Day holiday. Analysts surveyed by S&P Global Platts had forecast a fall of 2.5 million barrels, while the American Petroleum Institute on Wednesday reported a decrease of 1.2 million barrels, according to sources.
