U.S. stocks ended Monday's trading session higher, as investors appeared to focus on a strong reading from the housing sector, which outweighed a dismal manufacturing report from the New York area. Home-builder stocks were among the biggest winners, with the S&P 500 homebuilding sub-index gaining 1.9%. Trading on Wall Street was very light, with volumes more than 20% lower than a monthly average, according to FactSet. The S&P 500 closed 10.90 points, or 0.5%, higher at 2,102.44.
