A CIA-conducted funeral and burial at sea for the recovered bodies of Soviet submariners
In 1968 the Soviet submarine K-119 sank from unknown causes in the north Pacific Ocean. In 1974 the CIA secretly tried to raise it, in order to recover valuable intelligence and military technology. The salvage operation was only partially successful, as only one third of the sub was recovered. The remains of Soviet submariners were given a funeral service, and then buried at sea. This video of the service was presented to Russian leader Boris Yeltsin after the fall of the Soviet Union.
