IN BRIEF:

It was a routine home win tonight for the Tigers of Gloucester City as they dominated this game. Two goals from striker Kieran Phillips in a four-minute spell around the hour mark were enough to see off an impotent Kettering team.  If not for a number of saves from on loan keeper Owen Mason the margin could have been higher as home keeper Brandon Hall was not called into serious action all game.

Such sad new reached the club this morning Sunday 5th March that groundsman Graham Coles has passed away.  Graham husband to Doreen, was an instrumental part of the furniture at Latimer Park since our arrival in 2013.  He continued to work as our groundsman through thick and thin complemented by Doreen who ran the social club bar.  Many a day you could see Graham working on the pitch rain, snow or shine, making sure in difficult conditions the pitch was playable.  Along with Doreen he put in countless... The Poppies today suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat at Edgar Street, the home of Hereford, with the only goal of the game coming in the 56th minute. On-loan keeper, and Kettering’s man of the match, Owen Mason, made some crucial saves, keeping his side in the game and despite some heavy Kettering pressure after the goal they could not find the all important equaliser.

We have learnt the sad news that former Kettering Town goalkeeper Dick Dighton has passed away after a long term illness. He made his debut against Margate in 1973 going to make 58 appearances for the club.  Whilst with the Poppies Dick worked with other players and club coach Jim Hales. He was a trained sign writer painting many of the signs for the turnstiles at Rockingham Road.  We send our sincere condolences to his family.
