Noida (UP), Jul 17 () Uttar Pradesh's Gautam Buddh Nagar on Friday reported one more death linked to COVID-19, while 84 more people were found to be infected with the novel coronavirus, official data showed.

Kin of the deceased Anganwadi and ASHA workers, who succumb to Covid-19 in the line of duty, would now receive monthly pension of Rs 7,500 and Rs 5,000 respectively from the state government. The monthly pension will be given in addition to the ex-gratia of Rs 50 lakh announced by the state government earlier.

Deputy commissioner Varinder Sharma on Friday informed that under the “Mission Fateh” of the Punjab government, the number of Covid 19 patients getting cured in district Ludhiana is increasing with each passing day. He said that there are 514 active patients in the district at present.

Two patients have died while 60 more persons have tested positive in Patiala district of Punjab taking the tally to 839 cases in the district so far. The authorities revealed that both deceased including 58-year-old of Samana and a 60 year-old of a village in Bhadson block of the district was already admitted in Government Rajindra Hospital in Patiala and were having co-morbidity taking the death toll to 15 in the district.

The Dakshina Kannada District Police on Friday arrested a man and his son for torturing an elderly woman in Savanalu under Belthangady police station. The arrest came after a video clip of the duo torturing the woman went viral on social media.
